Happy Birthday Henrik!

Some fun leading up to the big first birthday!

Henrik found a new use for the Exersaucer, but he couldn't figure out how to get out.

Cousin Ella and Ida the night before the party.

Ida, Henrik, Ella & EJ--it's hard getting four kids to sit still long enough to get one good picture.

Ida was very interested in opening the presents; thankfully Henrik showed absolutely no interest in opening any of the presents.

But he did enjoy checking out all the new stuff once Ida had everything unwrapped.

Henrik was also pretty excited about his new 4-wheeler from Bakka Curry!

Ida and Ella making the most of the noisemakers before cake and ice cream.

For the most part, Henrik was interested in the cake as long as someone else was feeding it to him.

But he did eventually dig in with his own hands. He didn't want to waste any of the yummy cake by making a mess with it--lucky us!

Happy Memorial Day

The kids actually sat still and looked at the camera while smiling (or something close to smiling) . . . and Ida got to show off her "pony braids".

We all headed down to Traverse City for the weekend. Suzanne ran the Traverse City Bayshore Marathon Saturday morning. It was a bit warm, but otherwise a beautiful day for a run along the peninsula!

Suzanne coming in to the finish.

After the race we all headed to the hotel pool for some much needed fun and relaxation. Ida was really excited to wear her new princess swimsuit.

Henrik could hardly contain his excitement.

Ida, Zoe & Quinn were pretty comfortable in the big, cushy bed.

It's been a busy month

It's been quite a busy month. Henrik got his first tooth (it's been 4 weeks and he still has only the one).
Grandpa Curry came to visit and it was nice enough to hit the park. Henrik loved the swings (he definitely enjoyed it more than Ida did at this age)!

Ida went down the 10 foot slide by herself for the first time and almost went off the side. Oops!! It didn't deter her from going down alone after though.

Dad, Mom & Ida "Potatohead"--the world looks so much better through these beautiful glasses!

Chad decided to embark on a 120 mile 2-day bike ride/camping trip on two-tracks and snowmobile trails with a couple dozen other guys. This is what his bike trailer looked like before he left home on Friday.

This is what Chad looked like when he finished. I don't think I've ever seen him so tired.

Henrik tried out the Cozy Coupe for the first time, but slid off the seat in only a few minutes. I guess he's still a bit too young, but I'm guessing he'll be a pro by the end of the summer.

Henrik went from crawling to pulling up on everything in sight (stationary and moving--like Hagen). He's trying to stand on his own, but hasn't quite figured it out yet.

Ida got a new "princess" dress from Gamma and Bakka L and didn't want to take it off!

Ida helped Suzanne "read" her Mother's Day cards and open her wonderful gift. Henrik tried to pull everything off the table and eat the wrapping paper.

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter! The morning started out a little hectic as Suzanne had to be at church early to practice for hand bells. But we were able to get everyone ready and to church on time. Ida has been asking to wear her new dress for weeks now and was excited to finally get to wear it! The weather also cooperated for once--it almost didn't feel like Easter with the beautiful day and no snow on the ground or falling from the sky.

Because of the hectic morning, the Easter bunny waited until nap time to come to our house. Ida got the hang of finding the Easter eggs pretty quickly.

The Easter bunny knew that Ida would love new "princess" gear! She didn't want to take it off!
Henrik got to check out the eggs after Ida was done finding them all.

Spring has arrived

Spring has actually felt like "spring" this year. The snow has been melting steadly since mid-March and is pretty much gone. We've been able to get the kids out to play a bit--Henrik has upgraded to the backpack and Ida has started learning how to ride her tricycle (which she calls her "bike ride"). She's still a little too short to reach the pedals, but she's starting to get the hang of it. When she wants you to push she yells "pedal, pedal, pedal". I guess she doesn't understand that "pedal" means she's supposed to do it herself!
