Travels south (south of the bridge)

A WORM!!

Henrik's willing to hold it, probably thinking "how cool". Ida didn't get any closer than in this picture.

Ida got to spend some time at the playground with Henrik and cousin Brenden.

Wheee!

Henrik finally gave in to the long, exciting day. Sandy let him sleep on her arm until it was time for dinner.

Proud Grandpa (Baba) with all of his grandchildren.

We go Oasis! (a Caro landmark)

Henrik was a big help in Baba's bathroom.

We were not prepared for the temps to reach into the 80s. Thankfully Ida had a skirt and Henrik didn't mind showing off his diaper!

Still waiting for spring . . .

Say "cheese"!

Henrik's first attempt at finger painting. He really didn't get the "hands-on" aspect of finger painting and had to have a brush like sister uses.

Only three months late . . . the dress and sweater (knit by Suzanne) were supposed to be the Christmas outfits. The dress was done on time, but the sweater didn't get finished until sometime in March. Thankfully it still fit and as of late April it was still cold enough for both kids to wear their wool Christmas knits.

Every time someone picks up the phone Henrik insists on "talking" to whoever is on the other end of the line.

Introducing Princess Ida.

We go Green Bay!

We took a trip to the Tundra Lodge to go to the "big swimming pool" for the weekend. Ida was VERY excited! Henrik was just curious, as always.

Once we actually got to the waterpark, Ida wasn't nearly so excited. But after watching Henrik on the toddler slide for close to 2 hours she decided to give it a try and then had a blast!

Henrik quickly became a fan of the big slide. He couldn't go down it alone, but wanted to go down again and again and again. You can't see it real well, but this is Chad & Henrik at the end of the slide. Ida agreed to try the big slide once. She didn't want to go again, but after we got home she declared that the "big slide" was her favorite part.

More Winter Fun

Why can't the papparazzi just leave me alone?!?

The temperatures warmed up so we spent some time outside. Henrik didn't quite get the concept of making a snow angel.

Everyone helped make the large snowman.

Suzanne made four varieties of homemade truffles for Valentine's Day!

Visit with Grandpa Curry

Grandpa was a very popular person . . .

Henrik has discovered his inner daredevil. Mom and dad are going to have a lot more gray hair before this child reaches adulthood.

Henrik also has graduated to the guard-less chair. He's now climbing in and out on his own.

Grandpa's first adventure with Play-dough. He and Ida made some beautiful cakes!

Ida finally let mom braid her hair in "one big braid".

Birthday celebrations, skis and snow . . . oh my!

Yes, they really do make cross country skis that small! Ida was ready to try them as soon as they arrived, but the snow was so hard and slippery she had to wait about a week until we got more snow.

Dad got her all geared up and she was ready to go!

Henrik had some fun in the snow too (mostly by falling down and then trying to get back up).

Ida was a natural!

We found a nice little hill in the yard and Chad let the kids use his ice fishing sled and the joy of sledding was discovered!

Chad had some help opening his birthday presents . . .

and eating his chocolate raspberry layered cake!

This past weekend we finally made it out to our new camp. It had been winterized so we didn't stay long, but we had a short snowshoe/ski from the gate in, played in the snow, had a snack and then headed home (after stopping at Rodney's in Gwinn for some delicious pizza!).

The heat and electricity are shut off for the winter, so the indoor snack included snowpants, hats and eventually mittens too! It was 21 outside and 23 inside (at least there was no wind inside!).

Merry Christmas!

A little fun in the snow before the big day . . . Henrik enjoyed sledding, but we need to get a bigger sled.

We've been explaining to Ida that we don't eat yellow snow because that is where the dog has peed, which resulted in her declaring "We don't eat pee!". Well, that's good news.

Christmas Eve before going to church. Suzanne wasn't able to finish Henrik's Christmas sweater in time, but she did finish knitting Ida's dress.

"Do I really have to wait for Henrik?" Yes, Ida is all about the opening of presents.

Henrik caught on quickly, but after 3 or 4 gifts a book caught his eye and he was done. After asking him if he wanted to open more and having him shake his head "NO" every time, we finally let Ida open the rest of his gifts. He didn't care and she was thrilled!
